Ingredients Required:
1 cup all purpose flour
1 cup granulated sugar
1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup vegetable oil
2 large eggs
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup buttermilk
1/2 cup hot water
1 can pitted cherries
3 cups whipped cream

Method:
1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
2.Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a big dish.
3. Add the vegetable oil, eggs, and vanilla extract, and mix until well combined.
4. Gradually add the buttermilk and hot water, and mix until the batter is smooth.
5. Pour the batter into two 8-inch cake pans that are lined with parchment paper.
6. When a toothpick is inserted into the middle of the cake, it should come out clean after about 25 to 30 minutes of baking. 7. Remove the cakes from the oven and let them cool completely on a wire rack.
8. Drain the can of cherries and reserve the cherry juice.
9. Cut each cake layer in half horizontally so you have four layers.
10. Brush each layer with the reserved cherry juice.
11. Spread whipped cream on top of each layer and add a layer of cherries.
12. Repeat this process for each layer of cake.
13. Decorate the cake with chocolate shavings on the top and sides.
14. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving.
