Chakrapongal Recipe

 



Ingredients required:

1 cup of raw rice

1/2 cup of moong dal

1 cup of powdered jaggery

3 cups of water

1/2 teaspoon of cardamom powder

1/4 cup of ghee

1/4 cup of cashew nuts

1/4 cup of raisins

Method: 

1. Roast the moong dal in a pan until golden brown. Wash the rice and add it to the moong dal.

2. In a separate pan, melt the jaggery with 1/2 cup of water on low heat until it forms a thick syrup.

3. Add the jaggery syrup to the rice and dal mixture along with 3 cups of water. Cook the mixture in a pressure cooker for 4-5 whistles.

4. after pressure releases from the cooker, add the cardamom powder. Mix well.

5. In a separate pan, heat the ghee and fry the cashew nuts and raisins until they turn light brown. Add this to the pongal mixture and mix well.

6. Serve the chakrapongal hot and enjoy!
