Idiyappam Recipe

 



Ingredients Required: 

2 cups of rice flour

1 1/2 cups of water 

1/2 teaspoon of salt

Grated coconut (optional)

Ghee or oil for greasing

Method

1. In a pan, boil water with salt and keep it aside.

2. In a mixing bowl, add rice flour and slowly pour the hot water into the bowl while stirring continuously until the dough comes together.

3. Knead the dough well to make it soft and smooth. For 10 to 15 minutes, the dough should be covered with a damp cloth to cool.

4. Take an idiyappam press and fill it with the dough. Press the dough through the press in a circular motion onto a plate or steaming basket lined with banana leaves, or a greased plate.

 5. Steam the idiyappam in a steamer for 5-7 minutes or until fully cooked.

6. Serve hot with grated coconut or a curry of your choice.
